About Urangan Pier
Urangan Pier juts out over the shallow waters of Hervey Bay in the Urangan neighborhood. It was built in the early 20th century so ships could load sugar, coal and timber offshore, and a railway ran along it.
After commercial use ended, the pier was restored and became a walkway over the sea. From its end you can see K'gari across the bay and the string of beaches along the Esplanade.
Locals fish along the pier, and in the clear water it’s common to see fish, rays and turtles. In the late afternoon the place fills with people coming to watch the sun set over the water.
Next to it are Urangan Beach and picnic areas.
