About Australian National Surfing Museum
The Australian National Surfing Museum is in Torquay town centre, in the Surf City Plaza complex, near the factory stores of surf brands that were born in the town. It is dedicated to the history of surfing in the country.
The collection includes wooden and fiberglass boards from different periods, wetsuits, posters, photographs and films. One section tells the story of Bells Beach and the competition, and another honours Australian surfers in a hall of fame.
The visit is short and serves as an introduction for those continuing along the coast. Admission is charged; check the current rates.
Torquay is also the birthplace of some of the world’s most famous surf brands, and their outlet stores are in the same neighbourhood as the museum.
