About Erskine Falls
Erskine Falls is in Great Otway National Park, about 10 km from Lorne via the forest road. The Erskine River drops about 30 meters over a moss-covered cliff, surrounded by tree ferns and tall eucalyptus.
From the car park, a short lookout shows the fall from above. A long flight of steps descends to the base, where the water forms a shallow pool among the rocks. Longer trails follow the river toward Lorne.
The water volume changes with the rains: in winter and spring the waterfall is usually fuller; at the end of summer it is thinner.
The surrounding forest is cool and humid even in summer, and it’s common to hear birds such as the lyrebird singing among the ferns.
