About St Columba Falls
St Columba Falls is in the South George River valley, at the foot of Mount Victoria, about 25 km west of St Helens. Water plunges roughly 90 meters over a granite cliff, making it one of Tasmania’s higher falls.
A trail of about 10 minutes crosses a moist forest of tree ferns, myrtle beech and eucalypts to a viewing platform at the base of the fall.
The waterfall flows year-round, with greater volume in winter and spring. On the route lies the village of Pyengana, known for its cheese factory and an old country pub.
There is no entry fee. The area has picnic tables and restrooms next to the parking.
