About Wineglass Bay

Wineglass Bay is a bowl-shaped bay on the coast of Freycinet National Park, on the far side of the Hazards granite mountains from Coles Bay. The white-sand beach forms an almost perfect arc between slopes covered in native vegetation.

From the car park, a trail climbs among blocks of pink granite up to the Wineglass Bay lookout, on a saddle between two peaks. The return trip generally takes between 1 and 1½ hours. From the lookout, another trail descends to the beach, and the full return walk takes about 3 hours.

On the beach, which is often quiet, wallabies are commonly seen on the sand. Longer walks cross the isthmus to Hazards Beach and loop around the mountain as a full-day circuit.

Boats leaving from Coles Bay also reach the bay by sea. A national parks pass is required.
