About Friendly Beaches
The Friendly Beaches are in the north of Freycinet National Park, about 25 km from Coles Bay. They are kilometres of white sand facing the open ocean, with granite rocks covered in orange lichen at the ends and dunes with native vegetation.
To the south, the Hazards mountains appear on the horizon across the bay. The beach is usually quiet, even in summer, and it’s common to walk for long distances along the sand without meeting anyone, only seabirds and shells.
The sea is open with waves and the water is cold. There is a small campground near the beach and a trail that follows the coast.
A national parks pass is required.
