About Edith Falls (Leliyn)
Edith Falls, called Leliyn by the Jawoyn, is on the west side of Nitmiluk National Park, about 60 km north of Katherine. Edith Creek descends in cascades and forms natural pools surrounded by pandanus and forest.
The lower pool, large and deep, is near the car park and picnic area. A circular trail climbs the slope to the upper pool, below a smaller fall, with a lookout on the way.
The site is the endpoint of the Jatbula Trail, which comes from Nitmiluk Gorge over several days. There is a campground, kiosk and toilets.
Swimming is permitted by park rangers depending on water levels; in the wet season the area can close.
