About Mindil Beach Sunset Market
The Mindil Beach Sunset Market takes place on Mindil Beach, a few minutes from Darwin’s center, during the dry season. On Thursdays and Sundays, from late afternoon into the evening, hundreds of stalls set up an open‑air market between the sand and the park.
Food is the heart of the market, with dishes from Southeast Asia, Greece, India, Latin America and Australia, reflecting the communities that make up the city. There are also stalls selling crafts, Aboriginal art, clothing and live music.
In the late afternoon many people bring their food to the sand and wait for the sun to set over the Timor Sea. Afterwards, the market continues into the night with street performances.
The market usually runs from late April to late October. There is no entry fee.
