About Henty Dunes
The Henty dunes lie about 14 km north of Strahan, between the west coast forest and the ocean. They are light sand hills reaching around 30 metres and stretching for kilometres along the beach.
From the parking area a path climbs to the top of the dunes, where you can see the sea and the forest. A trail of roughly 1 hour crosses the sand to Ocean Beach, a long beach exposed to ocean winds.
The sand is used for board sledding, and shops in Strahan rent boards. Some companies offer ATV tours on the dunes.
The water at Ocean Beach is open and powerful, and swimming is not recommended. There is no entry fee for the area.
