About Çeşme Kalesi
Çeşme Castle sits in the center of the resort, next to the harbor. Its walls mark the seafront and help identify the old core. The fortress served a defensive purpose in a stretch of the Aegean tied to navigation and coastal–island relations.
The visit combines the building and the archaeological display, according to the areas open to the public. Notice the thickness of the structures and their relationship with the bay, rather than expecting the halls of a palace. Stairs and level changes are part of some sections.
This visit can be combined with a walk through the center, without needing to drive to another beach. Check opening times before choosing the day and bear in mind the heat in exposed areas. Allow time for the waterfront as well, treating the castle and the urban stroll as complementary activities.
