When to go
The feast of San Blas, patron of the city and of Paraguay, is on February 3 and begins with a novena nine days earlier, with prayers, bell ringing and fireworks; it is the busiest time. Summer, from December to February, is hot; between May and August days are usually cooler.
The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.
Do you need a car?
Not necessary. There are buses from Asunción, and the temple and the lagoon are in the center. The molasses and torta producers, in the municipality’s rural compañías, are easier to reach by car.
