Approximate road distances. Check flights and bus schedules before you travel.
Confirm before you buy. Benito Juárez International Airport (MEX) is located within the city, connected to the center by metro, metrobus and authorized taxi; Felipe Ángeles (NLU) is about 45 km to the north. Buses from other cities arrive at the Norte, Sur, TAPO and Poniente bus stations.
How many days
Four days for the Centro Histórico, Chapultepec, Coyoacán with Xochimilco and the day trip to Teotihuacan. Six days allow for University City, the Basilica of Guadalupe and a trip to Puebla or Cuernavaca.
When to go
October to April is the dry season, with cold nights from December to February. From May to October rain typically arrives late in the afternoon. Day of the Dead, from October 31 to November 2, is the most sought‑after period.
The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.
Do you need a car?
No. Metro, metrobus, authorized taxis and ride‑hailing apps cover the city, and traffic is heavy. For Teotihuacan there are buses and organized tours. A car only makes sense if you plan to continue traveling into the interior.
