About Domaine du Ciran
The Domaine du Ciran is in Ménestreau-en-Villette, in the northern Sologne, about 16 km from Lamotte-Beuvron. Centered on a 19th-century château, it operates as a conservatory for Sologne wildlife and as a showcase of the region’s landscapes.
Across roughly 300 hectares, the estate brings together the typical Sologne habitats: oak and pine forests, heaths of heather, meadows, ponds and marshes. Waymarked trails of varying lengths cross these areas, with interpretive panels and observatories.
From the observatories you can see waterfowl on the ponds and, with patience, deer, does and wild boar, especially early in the morning and late in the afternoon. A small museum presents rural life and the natural history of the Sologne.
The estate is run by an association and welcomes schools, families and walkers throughout the year.
