About Château de Savigny-lès-Beaune
The Château de Savigny-lès-Beaune is a fortified 14th-century castle, surrounded by a domaine of vineyards in the Côte de Beaune, in the village of Savigny-lès-Beaune, about 5 km north of Beaune. It has been a listed historic monument since 1940.
Besides being a winery, the castle has become a place for unexpected collections. In the park and buildings dozens of fighter planes, racing cars—especially of the Abarth brand—motorcycles, tractors and farm machinery, and even models and fire trucks are on display.
The visit includes the furnished old barns and a tasting pavilion in the small 17th-century château, where the domaine's wines are tasted, including those labeled Savigny-lès-Beaune.
It's a different kind of stop for those traveling with family or with someone who likes mechanics, in the middle of a wine region.
