Get to know Serua

Serua lies on the south coast of Viti Levu, between the Coral Coast and Suva, with the Navua River plain and forest-covered mountains behind. The administrative center is Navua, a town shared with Namosi Province.

Pacific Harbour is a planned seaside neighborhood with resorts, a beach and a golf course, promoted as Fiji’s adventure base. From there you can do shark diving in Beqa lagoon, rafting trips on the upper Navua River and canopy zipline tours in the forest.

The Navua River runs between forested cliffs with waterfalls. boat trips travel up the river to inland villages like Namuamua, and the bilibili ride — the traditional bamboo raft — is one way to experience the stretch.

Serua Island, off the coast, and the plain’s villages preserve traditional life. Visiting villages requires a guide or invitation, clothing that covers shoulders and knees, and attendance at the kava ceremony.

Pacific Harbour

Pacific Harbour is on the south coast of Viti Levu, about 50 km west of Suva, and presents itself as Fiji’s adventure capital. From here you can do dives at Shark Reef, the marine reserve where bull sharks often appear, take boat trips on the Navua River, and crossings to Beqa Island.

When to go

For sea conditions and diving in Beqa lagoon, the dry season from May to October is usually best. The south coast is wetter than the west; from November to April the hot and cyclone season brings more rain.

Getting there

Pacific Harbour is on Queens Road, about an hour from Suva and several hours by road from Nadi International Airport, served by buses, shuttles and taxis. Confirm before booking. The nearest airport is Nausori (SUV), near Suva, with domestic flights.
