The province
Get to know Nadroga e Navosa
The province of Nadroga and Navosa occupies the southwest of Viti Levu and the Mamanuca islands, west of Nadi. Nadroga is the coastal part; Navosa is the inland mountainous area, cut by the Sigatoka River valley, known for vegetable and produce farming.
The Coral Coast runs along the south of the island, with resorts and beaches protected by the reef. Sigatoka is the valley town and sits next to the Sigatoka Sand Dunes National Park, on UNESCO’s tentative list. Natadola Beach, Korolevu and the Kula Wild Adventure Park, with Fiji birds and reptiles, complete the stretch.
The Mamanuca are small islands 30 to 90 minutes by boat from Denarau: Malolo Lailai, Malolo, Mana, Castaway (Qalito), Tokoriki and Matamanoa, with lagoons and snorkeling. Monuriki, uninhabited, is the island where Cast Away (2000) was filmed, and the floating bar Cloud 9 sits over the reef.
To the south, the island of Vatulele is known for masi, the bark-cloth fabric, and for the sacred red prawns in the rock pools.
