About Whirlpool Aero Car

Downriver from the falls, the Niagara flows through a narrow canyon and, when it makes a sharp bend, forms a large whirlpool. The Whirlpool Aero Car crosses this stretch since 1916: an enclosed car, suspended from cables, carries passengers from one bank of the canyon to the other, entirely within Canadian territory because the river loops.

The round-trip crossing takes about 10 minutes. From above you can see the swirling water and the rapids that descend through the canyon. The car has been renovated over the years but retains the original design by Spanish engineer Leonardo Torres Quevedo.

The cable car generally operates from spring to fall, depending on weather. Nearby, the White Water Walk descends to a promenade beside the rapids. Admission is paid; check the current price list.
