About Moraine Lake
Moraine Lake lies in the Valley of the Ten Peaks, about 14 km from the village of Lake Louise, at roughly 1,885 meters elevation. It is smaller than Lake Louise, but the wall of ten peaks rising behind the blue-turquoise water has made the view one of the most famous in the Rockies.
The most visited viewpoint sits atop the Rockpile, a pile of rocks at the lake outlet reached by a short trail with steps. A flat trail follows the shore, and longer hikes climb to Consolation Lake and Larch Valley, where larches turn golden in September.
The road to the lake is closed to private cars. Access is by Parks Canada buses, with reservation, or by authorized-operator buses, generally from June to mid-October. For the rest of the year the road is closed by snow. Bus fares apply; check the current schedule.

How to get there
By Parks Canada buses that depart from the Lake Louise Park and Ride, or by authorized operators. The road is closed to private cars.
