About Lake Louise Gondola

The Lake Louise gondola departs from the base of the ski area, on the opposite side of the valley from the lakes, and rises to about 2,090 meters on Mount Whitehorn. In summer, the summit viewpoint shows Lake Louise, the Victoria Glacier and the range of peaks along the continental divide.

The resort slopes are a feeding area for grizzly bears, and it’s common to see them from the cabins, at a distance, eating plants and berries in clearings. An interpretation centre at the top explains the bears’ life and Rocky Mountains wildlife, and short trails start from the viewpoint.

In winter, the Lake Louise ski area is one of the three in the Banff region, with runs on the faces of Mount Whitehorn. The gondola is ticketed; check the current price list.
