About Bow Falls
The Bow Falls are on the Bow River near its confluence with the Spray River, less than 2 km from downtown Banff. They aren’t high—around 9 meters—but are wide, with the river’s green water tumbling over rock steps.
A trail of about 1.2 km departs from town near the Banff Avenue bridge and follows the riverbank to a lookout over the falls, with a view of Mount Rundle. On the other side of the river, a stairway climbs to a higher viewpoint. The setting appeared in the 1954 film The River of No Return.
The site is a starting point for canoe and raft trips on the river below the falls. There is no admission fee.
