About Kayaköy Örenyeri

Kayaköy is inland between Fethiye and the Ölüdeniz area. The site preserves ruins of houses and buildings of a village that had a Greek population and was emptied in the context of population changes in the early 20th century. The visit focuses on the built landscape and the memory of occupation.

The houses are distributed along the slope, with streets and spaces that help perceive the organization of the settlement. It is not a setting of furnished interiors. Walls, openings and religious buildings should be viewed from the authorized routes, without assuming that every ruin can be explored inside.

The terrain has slope and sun exposure; wear sturdy footwear and choose a cooler period. Allow a few hours to walk and read the site at a relaxed pace. The walk pairs with the Fethiye region, but requires transport and its own time, rather than being just a stop between two beach accesses.
