About Torre Torre Stone Forest
Torre Torre is a group of clay and stone towers on the hillside east of Huancayo, a few kilometers from the center. The formations, some about 30 meters high, were shaped over thousands of years by rain and wind, which eroded sediment deposits left by ancient landslides and floods.
The result resembles a stone forest: reddish cliffs, columns and spires that change color with the daylight. Dirt trails pass between the towers and climb to viewpoints over the city.
It is one of the best viewpoints of the Mantaro valley. From the top you can see all of Huancayo, the valley fields and, on clear days, the surrounding mountain range.
The trails are short, but the ground is loose and the altitude exceeds 3,400 meters; ascend slowly and wear sturdy footwear.

Practical information
Cidade Turismo reviews its information regularly, but something may have changed. Check with the place before planning your trip.
How much time to set aside
One to two hours to walk among the formations and reach the viewpoints.
Best time
In the dry season, from May to September, the ground becomes firmer. Morning and late-afternoon light enhance the colors of the towers.
How to get there
By taxi, about 15 minutes from the center to the start of the trails. On foot, the climb from the east of the city is long and steep.
Tip
Bring water, sunscreen and warm clothing: the sun is strong at altitude and the wind cools in the late afternoon. In the rainy season, avoid the trails immediately after heavy rain, when the clay becomes slippery.
