The city

What to expect from Esch-sur-Alzette.

Esch-sur-Alzette is Luxembourg's second city and the center of the Minett, the former iron-ore and steel region next to the border with France. The centre has the rue de l'Alzette, a pedestrian street with early 20th-century façades, and the Museu da Resistência. In the Belval district, the preserved altos-fornos sit among the university buildings. Around it, former mines have become nature reserves.
