About Villa Durazzo
Villa Durazzo occupies the hill above the port of Santa Margherita. The complex brings together two noble villas, Villa Durazzo and Villa Centurione, a 17th‑century park and, just below, a 16th‑century castle. The main villa has decorated halls and houses an art collection.
The terraced garden combines geometric beds in the Italian style, stone paths with pebble designs, a wood and an area of exotic plants. From the terraces you can see the port, the town and the Gulf of Tigullio.
On the water's edge, at the foot of the hill, stands the castle commissioned by the Republic of Gênova in 1550 to defend the coast against pirates. After World War I it was restored and dedicated to those who died in that conflict.
The villa also hosts exhibitions, concerts and events throughout the year.
