About Boccadasse
Boccadasse is an old fishing village that is now part of Genoa, east of the center. The colorful houses crowd around a small pebble cove, with boats pulled up on the sand. Some fishermen still work there.
The village sits at the end of Corso Italia, the city’s main seaside promenade, which runs from Foce to Boccadasse. Walking the promenade, with the sea on one side, is a common activity for locals.
Above the cove is Capo Santa Chiara, a promontory with the Türcke castle. From there you can see the gulf and, on clear days, the silhouette of the Portofino promontory.
The alleys and steps between the houses lead to small bars and gelaterias. In summer, residents use the pebbles as a beach.
