Approximate road distances. Check flights and bus schedules before you travel.

Confirm before buying. The nearest airport is Vigo, about 55 km away. There is no train service: from Vigo there are buses along the coastal road, passing through Baiona, and via Tui. By car, take the PO-552 road, which links Tui to Baiona along the Minho bank and the coast. From Caminha, on the Portuguese side, the road crosses the bridges over the Minho.

How many days

One day is enough for the mount of Santa Trega, with the castro, the museum and the viewpoint, the Castle of Santa Cruz and the harbor, with a seafood lunch. Many people make a day trip from Vigo, from Baiona or from northern Portugal. Those walking the Coastal Way usually spend the night in the village.

When to go

From June to September it usually rains less and is less cold, the best time for the mount and the coast. In August the Festa do Monte takes place in Santa Trega. Winter is rainy and the summit of the mount is often windy.

The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.

Do you need a car?

Help. The village is walkable, but the top of the mount of Santa Trega is about 4 km from the center, along an uphill road; there are hiking trails and taxis. Without a car, you arrive by bus from Vigo or Tui.
