When to go

Spring, from April to June, and autumn, from September to October, usually have pleasant temperatures for walking. July and August are hot during the day. Winter is cold and dry, with frost in the mornings. At Easter Week the city gets crowded because of the processions: book accommodation in advance.

The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.

Do you need a car?

No. The old town is long and flat, and everything can be done on foot, from the Plaza Mayor to the cathedral and the castle at the western end. A car is only useful to visit villages in the region. Those arriving by train can walk or take a taxi from the station to the center.
