When to go

Spring (April to June) and early autumn (September and October) usually have the most pleasant weather. In July and August the average high exceeds 30 °C. In winter, from December to February, mornings are often cold with frost, and the days are short.

The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.

Do you need a car?

No. The Barri Vell is meant to be explored on foot, with narrow streets, slopes and staircases. Trains connect Girona with Barcelona and Figueres. A car is only useful for going to Púbol, Portlligat or the beaches of the Costa Brava.
