About Delta del Paraná
The Delta del Paraná is made up of islands separated by rivers and channels. In Tigre, the visit starts on solid ground, but the navigation brings the traveler close to the tree-lined banks, the piers and the island houses. The water has the coloration of the sediments of the river system, different from the blue of other Argentine destinations.
There are different types of tours. An excursion may follow a circuit that returns to the starting point, while the shared launch also carries residents and serves piers along the way. Before boarding, confirm which service you are choosing, the duration and whether the route includes disembarkation on any island.
For a round trip from Buenos Aires, allow time between the train arrival and boarding. The return by river needs to be arranged before leaving, especially if you disembark on an island. Bring a windproof layer and adapt the tour to the navigation conditions; birdwatching or finding a particular water condition is not part of the itinerary's promise.

Practical information
Cidade Turismo reviews its information regularly, but something may have changed. Check with the place before planning your trip.
How much time to set aside
One to two hours for a short boat circuit, plus waiting and boarding. Routes with disembarkation or stops at the islands can take half a day or more.
Best time
From September to November and from March to May the days are usually milder for spending time aboard. From December to February it can be very hot; between June and August, bring a jacket for the river wind. Check available departures before you go.
How to get there
Go to downtown Tigre, near the railway station of the Mitre line. Tours and collective river transport use boarding points at the Estación Fluvial Domingo Faustino Sarmiento and at other sections of the riverbank; confirm the pier for the service you choose.
Tip
Ask whether the ticket corresponds to a tourist circuit with a return or to a transfer on a shared launch. If there is a disembarkation, arrange the return before boarding the boat.

Frequently asked questions about Delta del Paraná
Are a shared launch and a boat excursion the same?
No. The shared launch also serves as transport for residents and stops at different piers. The excursion follows a defined tourist circuit. Choose the type that suits your available time and confirm whether there will be disembarkation.
Do you need to sleep on an island to experience the Delta?
No. It’s possible to choose a short boat circuit and return to Tigre the same day. To stay on an island, plan the outbound and return services separately.
Can the trip be included in a day trip from Buenos Aires?
Yes, provided you allow time for arrival in Tigre, boarding, and the return. Don’t schedule a tight connection with the last transport of the day; confirm services before finalizing your itinerary.
