About Playa Bávaro
Playa Bávaro is part of the long coast known as Costa del Coco, the coconut palm coast, which runs from Cap Cana to Uvero Alto. It is a stretch of about 10 km of fine white sand, almost flat, with coconut palms leaning over the sea and water of a light green that darkens where the coral reef begins.
The reef, a few hundred meters from the beach, breaks the waves and keeps the sea calm most of the year, good for swimming, kayaking and snorkeling. The sand is wide and walkable from end to end, passing in front of dozens of hotels. In the middle of the beach is El Cortecito, a former fishing village with restaurants, excursion boats and a craft market; further south, Los Corales Beach is the favorite of people who live in the area.
Hotels dominate the shore, but the beach is public and there are access points for those not staying in hotels. In the stretches in front of hotels, the loungers and umbrellas are reserved for guests; at the public access points, stalls rent chairs and sell coconut and food.
