Miches – El Seibo

How to get there

  • Aeropuerto Internacional de Punta Cana (PUJ) Punta Cana · 95 km

Approximate road distances. Check flights and bus schedules before you travel.

Confirm before you buy. Punta Cana airport (PUJ) is about an hour and a half by car via the new road. From Santo Domingo it’s about two and a half hours, passing Hato Mayor and El Seibo; there are buses to Miches.

How many days

Three to four days: one for Playa Esmeralda, a morning for Montaña Redonda, another for Laguna Limón and time to rest or visit more secluded beaches.

When to go

December to April has less rain and, from January to March, humpback whales enter the bay. Hurricanes can appear from June to November. The region receives more rain than the Punta Cana coast and becomes very green.

The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.

Do you need a car?

It helps, because the attractions are several kilometers from town and public transport is scarce. For Montaña Redonda, the last stretches require a pickup or jeep; there is a boarding service at the base.
