The city

What to expect from Waitomo Caves.

Waitomo is a small village on limestone terrain full of caves and underground rivers, about 75 km south of Hamilton. The Waitomo Cave, with the boat ride under the glowworms, is the best known. The Ruakuri Cave, with its spiral entrance, and the Aranui Cave, with delicate formations, complete the visits, and to the west lies the Mangapohue Natural Bridge, a limestone arch.
