The city

What to expect from Tuxtla Gutiérrez.

Tuxtla Gutiérrez is the capital of Chiapas, a modern, warm city in a valley about 500 meters above sea level, and the main gateway to the state. To the north is Parque Nacional Cañón del Sumidero, with viewpoints over the Grijalva River gorge, and to the south is ZooMAT, a zoo dedicated to Chiapas wildlife. It is the starting point for Chiapa de Corzo and San Cristóbal de las Casas.
