About Fertő-Hanság National Park
The Fertő-Hanság Nemzeti Park protects lake, reedbed and wetland environments in western Hungary. Part of the landscape is connected to the cross-border cultural heritage of Fertő and Neusiedlersee. The Hungarian side should not be assumed to include automatic access to the Austrian approaches.
Activities are spread across different sectors. Observing the environment requires choosing an authorized path or a guided program, rather than seeking a single entrance for the whole landscape. The Kócsagvár support point in Sarród helps organize access to the area.
Confirm the meeting point and book in advance on the official website when required. From April to June and September to October conditions are typically mild for outings; birds and other wildlife depend on season and conditions, with no guarantee of sightings. Consider wind and exposure across the fields.
