About Tavoro Waterfalls (Tavoro Waterfalls)

The Tavoro waterfalls are located in Bouma National Heritage Park on the east coast of Taveuni and are the island’s best-known outing. There are three consecutive falls on the Tavoro River, linked by a trail that climbs through the forest from the visitor center, run by the local community.

The first waterfall, about 24 meters high, is roughly a 10-minute walk along an easy path and has a wide pool for swimming. The second is a further 30 to 40 minutes of uphill walking, with steps and steep sections, and there is a coastal viewpoint along the way. The third, the most hidden, is about 20 minutes beyond the second.

The surrounding forest is one of Fiji’s best-preserved, with tall trees, ferns and native birds such as the red parrot known in Fiji as kula.

Entrance fees go to the villages that manage the park. Visitors short on time can stay at the first waterfall; those who want the full trail should allow the whole morning.
