About Igrexa de San Domingos
The Igrexa de San Domingos is the church of the former Dominican friars' convent in Tui, built from the 14th century in the Gothic style. It stands in the northeast part of the old town, next to the Parque da Alameda, one of the town's green spaces.
The choir, with polygonal chapels and tall windows, is the oldest and most characteristic part. Inside, the church houses Gothic tombs and Baroque altarpieces from later centuries.
The convent played a role in the town's religious life for centuries, and the church remains open for worship. Remains of the cloister and convent lie beside it.
A visit pairs well with a walk through the Parque da Alameda and the old-town streets that slope down to the river Minho.
