About Cabo Touriñán
Cabo Touriñán is in the municipality of Muxía, about 15 km by road from the center of the village, and is the westernmost point of Galicia, slightly west of cabo Fisterra. It is a narrow peninsula of rock and grass, surrounded by cliffs and the open sea of the Costa da Morte.
At the cape there are two lighthouses: the old one and the new one, which mark the passage of ships along one of the most difficult navigation coasts in Europe, known for shipwrecks over the centuries.
Because it is the westernmost point of Galicia, at certain times of year Touriñán is the last place on continental Europe to see the sunset. The cape is less visited than Fisterra and is quieter.
There are paths across the peninsula up to near the lighthouses, and the Caminho dos Faróis, a trail along the Costa da Morte, passes through here. Bring warm clothing: the wind is often strong.
