About Praias de Riazor e Orzán

The beaches of Riazor and Orzán are in the centre of A Coruña, in the Orzán inlet, on the peninsula side facing the open ocean. They are two continuous beaches, separated only by a small stretch of rocks, a few minutes' walk from the praça de María Pita and the avenida da Mariña.

Riazor, to the west, is the more family-oriented beach, with slightly more protected waters, and is next to Deportivo's football stadium. Orzán, to the east, gets more waves and is one of the city's surf spots. At low tide the sand widens considerably.

The seafront promenade, which runs around the whole peninsula of A Coruña for over 10 km, passes above the beaches and has benches, lighting and bars. The beaches have lifeguard service in summer.

On the night of June 23 to 24, the Saint John's Eve celebration fills the beaches with bonfires, food and music. The water is cold even in summer.
