About Domus
The Domus, formerly called Casa do Homem, was the first interactive museum dedicated completely to the human being: the body, the senses, the brain, genetics, reproduction and behavior. It opened on April 7, 1995, and is part of the Museus Científicos Coruñeses, together with the Aquarium Finisterrae and the Casa das Ciências.
The museum's motto is Conhece-te a ti mesmo, the phrase from the Temple of Apollo at Delphi. The rooms have modules to touch, measure and experiment, designed for visitors of all ages.
The building is the work of Japanese architect Arata Isozaki, with the Spanish César Portela. The facade facing the sea curves like a ship's sail in the wind and is covered with slate slabs; the back, made of granite, forms a kind of stepped wall. The museum is located on the edge of the promenade, above the Orzán bay.
From the terrace and the windows you can see the sea and the beach.
