About Casa das Ciencias
The Casa das Ciências was the first of the three Museus Científicos Coruñeses and the first interactive science center created by a public body in Spain. It opened on June 1, 1985, in a small palace at the top of the Santa Margarida park, in the city center.
The museum was designed to promote science and technology for all ages, with hands-on experiments that visitors perform themselves. The rooms cover physics, mathematics, astronomy, nature and technology, and in the entrance hall a large Foucault pendulum demonstrates the Earth's rotation.
The planetarium is one of the most popular parts, with sessions about the sky and the universe. The museum also organizes temporary exhibitions, lectures and activities.
The surrounding Santa Margarida park has paths, trees and play areas for children.
