The city
City in Pichincha province, at about 2,830 meters, on the road between Quito and Otavalo, at the foot of the Cayambe volcano, the only point on the Equator line covered in snow. To the south is the Quitsato sundial, on the equatorial line, and in the town is the Puntiatzil archaeological site of the Kayambi people. It is known for bizcochos baked in a wood-fired oven, served with queso de hoja.
