About Vesterstrand og badehusene

Vesterstrand sits on the edge of Ærøskøbing, near the marina. The beach has a row of small bathing huts that are part of Ærø’s cultural landscape. They are privately used structures related to coastal leisure and should be viewed from the outside.

The walk follows the strip along the water and allows you to compare the colors, doors and roofs of the huts. The tradition developed in the 20th century and remained tied to conservation rules. The interest is in the ensemble and its relationship with the beach, with no need to enter the buildings.

It is a stop that can be reached on foot from town or included in a bicycle route around the island. For swimming, the day’s conditions and water temperature should guide the choice. The walk and observation of the huts do not require arranging any activity inside them.
