The city

What to expect from Januária.

Januária is the main city in northern Minas on the banks of the Rio São Francisco near Parque Nacional Cavernas do Peruaçu, whose headquarters is in Fabião I, a community of the municipality, about 45 km from the center. The city has a riverside promenade, shops, hotels and restaurants and is known for its artisanal cachaça tradition. It is the most used base for visitors to the caves and cliffs with rock paintings at Peruaçu.

Park

Peruaçu Caves National Park

National park of 56,448 hectares in the Peruaçu River canyon, a UNESCO World Heritage site, with caves such as Janelão and cliffs with rock paintings. Visits are always with an accredited guide and by appointment.
