By car, from the Gold Coast via Tamborine-Oxenford Road, in about 45 minutes; from Brisbane, a little over an hour. There is no train; tours and bus services run up from the Gold Coast.
How many days
One day for the Skywalk, a trail in the national park and the Gallery Walk. With two days you can include Lamington further afield.
When to go
All year round; the altitude makes the plateau a little cooler than the coast. December to April is the wettest season, when waterfalls run fuller; winter is drier and colder at night.
The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.
Do you need a car?
Helpful to have: attractions are spread across the plateau. Without a car, the option is a tour or the bus service that circulates between sites. Mountain roads are winding; in Australia you drive on the left.
