About Surfers Paradise Beach
Surfers Paradise is the tourist heart of the Gold Coast and gives its name to the beach in front of the town, a continuous stretch of light sand facing the Coral Sea. The high‑rise buildings, including the Q1, form the city’s best known skyline, which from a distance looks like a piece of a big city planted by the sea.
The beach has waves year‑round and is patrolled by lifeguards, with swimming areas marked by red and yellow flags. The Esplanade runs along the sand, and Cavill Avenue, which leads down to the beach, concentrates shops, restaurants and nightlife.
Surf schools offer lessons for beginners on the beach itself. To the north is Main Beach, quieter, and the path continues to Sea World and the Spit; to the south, Broadbeach has a calmer pace with restaurants and a casino.
The G:link tram runs a block from the sand and links the beach with Broadbeach, Southport and the train to Brisbane.
