About Parque Temático Histórico del Bicentenario

The Parque Temático Histórico del Bicentenario covers several blocks alongside provincial road 301 at Famaillá’s northern entrance for those arriving from San Miguel de Tucumán. It is an outdoor route that tells the story of Argentine independence with replicas of buildings and monuments that are located in other cities around the country.

The most visible replica is that of the Cabildo of Buenos Aires, the colonial government seat where the May Revolution of 1810 began. Nearby are the Pirámide de Mayo, the monument from Plaza de Mayo in Buenos Aires, and the Casa Histórica de la Independencia, the house in San Miguel de Tucumán where independence was declared on July 9, 1816. Inside the replicas there are life-size figures of the congressmen and leaders of the time.

Around them, sculptures depict figures and scenes of colonial life, carts and old trades. Famaillá hosts sculptors’ gatherings every year and collects hundreds of sculptures spread across the town, many along road 301. In the same area are the monument to the Bandera Macha, the first flag created by General Belgrano, and an almost three-meter statue of singer Mercedes Sosa, who was born in Tucumán.

The ensemble stands out for its size and the number of figures, and it is the most visited stop for those passing through Famaillá. It’s a place to walk without hurry and take photos, including with children.
