About Ka'i Puente Cultural Station
Coronel Bogado developed alongside the railway which, in the early 20th century, came to connect Asunción with Encarnación. The municipality was created on May 2, 1913, and is named after Colonel José Félix Bogado, a Paraguayan military officer who fought in the independence campaigns under José de San Martín.
According to Paraguayan press, the town’s chipa fame began with the arrival of the train. Sales later moved to the urban stretch of the PY01, where chiperías serve travelers between Asunción and Encarnación.
The old station building is now the Estación Cultural, also called Ka'i Puente, a space that mixes art and local history, on Julia Miranda Cueto de Estigarribia Street. A few meters away is the Centro del Saber. At Holy Week, the town’s chiperos association has used the station to show the public how chipa is prepared and the quick way to knead the dough.
