About Parque Juárez
Parque Juárez sits in the heart of Xalapa on a terrace overlooking the hillside. It is a tree-filled plaza with gardens, fountains, benches and a bandstand, and it is the city's meeting point.
From the balustrade you can see the green valley and the neighborhoods that descend the mountainside, and on clear days, especially in the morning, Pico de Orizaba appears in the distance — the volcano of about 5,600 meters, the highest mountain in Mexico, with a snow-capped summit.
Around the park are the government palace, with murals inside, the municipal palace and, a few steps away, the neogothic metropolitan cathedral built on a slope. Beneath the park there is an art gallery.
In the late afternoon the park fills with musicians, vendors and families.
