About Texolo Waterfall

The Texolo waterfall is about 3 km from downtown Xico and about 8 km from Coatepec, in a narrow gorge surrounded by humid forest. The water of the Texolo River falls roughly 40 meters into a natural pool, creating a constant mist.

A stone path descends from the parking area to the viewpoint, from which you can see the fall head-on. A suspension bridge crosses the river, and a trail leads to a second, smaller waterfall and to the base of the main fall.

The vegetation is cloud forest, with ferns, mosses, bromeliads and tall trees, and many birds.

Xico, the neighboring town, has a colonial center, a church with the image of Santa Maria Madalena and a festival in July, with bulls in the streets.
