About Bahía Santa María
Bahía Santa María is a horseshoe-shaped cove on the Tourist Corridor, between Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo. Surrounded by rocky hills, it has clear, calm waters protected from waves, and is part of a marine protected area.
Snorkeling is done from the sand itself, on the rocks at both sides of the cove, where colorful tropical fish, sea urchins and sometimes turtles can be found. Tour boats from Cabo San Lucas also stop there for snorkeling.
The beach is public, with parking and a small facility with restrooms, but no restaurants on the sand. A few minutes away is Playa Chileno, another calm cove with a similar setup.
Because it is small and popular, the cove tends to get crowded by late morning and on weekends.
